Heavy Equipment Operator / Site Laborer Job Description Aerotek is hiring immediately! This contract-to-hire role offers the opportunity to work as a heavy equipment operator and site laborer on large commercial construction projects across the South Shore and Southern Massachusetts. You will support site development activities on busy, high-profile job sites, performing a mix of equipment operation and hands-on construction labor in a fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for someone with several years of site work experience who wants long-term stability, strong benefits, and opportunities for growth with a family-oriented construction company. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on large commercial site development projects, following all safety and operational guidelines. Perform general site labor tasks, including cleaning work areas, loading and unloading materials, and assisting with site preparation and maintenance. Use hand tools and basic carpentry skills to support construction activities as needed on the job site. Support site work operations such as grading, excavation assistance, and material handling under the direction of site supervision. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly removing debris and hazards from walkways and work zones. Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Arrive on time and ready to work each day at various large commercial job sites across the South Shore and Southern Massachusetts. Care for tools and equipment, reporting any damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills At least 3+ years of site work experience on construction projects, preferably in commercial environments. Proven experience performing general construction labor, including cleaning, loading, unloading, and site support tasks. Experience operating heavy equipment on construction sites, with a strong focus on safety and adherence to procedures. Ability to use hand tools and perform basic carpentry-related tasks as required on the job site. Current OSHA 10 certification. Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites across the South Shore and Southern Massachusetts. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines. Strong awareness of job site safety practices and willingness to follow all safety rules and guidelines. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work on large commercial construction job sites located throughout the South Shore and Southern Massachusetts. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Standard construction safety practices apply, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, gloves, and work boots. The schedule follows typical construction hours, with the potential for overtime based on project needs. The role involves both heavy equipment operation and hands-on physical labor, requiring the ability to be on your feet for extended periods and to handle materials and tools safely and efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Weymouth, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
