Job Description

Laborer - Heavy Civil Construction We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Pipe Crew Laborer to join our heavy civil construction team. This position supports the installation of underground utility systems including water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and willing to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Assist pipe layers and equipment operators with the installation of underground utility systems. Prepare trenches for pipe installation, including grading, bedding, and cleanup activities. Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment throughout the job site. Assist with the placement of pipe, fittings, valves, and related utility components. Hand-dig around existing utilities and sensitive areas as required. Install and remove trench boxes, shoring, and other excavation safety systems. Perform compaction and backfill operations under the direction of the foreman. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, pumps, and other small equipment safely and efficiently. Assist with traffic control and site safety procedures when necessary. Follow grade stakes, instructions, and project plans as directed by supervisors. Support all phases of underground utility construction and general site work. Comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements. Qualifications Previous construction, utility, excavation, or heavy civil experience preferred but not required. Ability to work effectively as part of a crew in a physically demanding environment. Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is a plus. Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn. Ability to take direction and follow instructions from supervisors and crew leaders. Valid driver's license preferred. OSHA 10 certification is a plus but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and dust. Comfortable working around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
