EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

May sweep and clean streets and gutters, may collect and load refuse into an accompanying truck or movable can; may rake leaves from streets and load into trucks, may shovel snow and break ice from streets and loads on trucks.

May work from rear of a packer type truck collecting garbage, trash, compost, discarded items and other refuse from house to house and other sources loading refuse into hopper, applies violation notices and operates mechanism to load dumpsters and pack refuse into truck.

May pick up loose or spilled materials to assure all material is collected.

May perform pick and shovel work on asphalt, concrete and unpaved streets.

May perform simple tasks involved in building and repairing sidewalks, culverts, sewers, curbs, gutters, inlets and catch basins.

May load and unload trucks and care of pipe, cement, and a variety of materials.

May dig trenches and lay electrical underground ducts.

May skim clarifiers, wash signs and signal tanks.

May on occasion operate various equipment that does not require a CDL.Performs any related work as required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. You must meet the minimum entrance requirements and attach supporting documentation to be considered for employment.
