General Description The Pipe Laborer is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with water, sewer, and storm drain pipe installation on construction projects. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to follow directions from supervisors and skilled crew members. The Pipe Laborer performs a variety of tasks, transferring between duties as workflow demands.
Key Duties Construction Site Support:
Safely unload and stage truckloads of pipe and precast structures. Hook and rig pipe and structures for proper installation by the pipe crew. Assist pipe layers and equipment operators with various tasks. Keep the job site clean and free of trash and debris.Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety regulations, procedures, and company policies. Maintain situational awareness around heavy equipment and moving machinery. Use proper lifting techniques and PPE to prevent injuries.Communication & Coordination:
Understand, interpret, and follow directions from a foreman or superintendent. Communicate professionally with supervisors, teammates, contractors, and vendor partners. Perform additional duties as needed within other construction crafts.Qualification Requirements Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in construction, pipe installation, or general labor is a plus. Must be willing to learn, follow directions, and contribute to team success.Skills & Competencies:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Basic understanding of construction site procedures and safety regulations. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Physical Demands Constant physical effort, including standing for extended periods during an 8+ hour shift. Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, and lift 50-90 lbs frequently and up to 150 lbs with assistance. Manual dexterity to hand-carry materials, tools, and equipment. Maintain constant awareness of job site activities and moving equipment. Walk frequently on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers up to 60 feet with narrow steps and passageways. Adequate visual acuity and coordination to provide flagging and spotting for crane operators. Work Environment Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Exposure to high noise levels, dust, grease, and construction debris. Regular work near heavy equipment and moving machinery. May handle construction substances, including form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete.What's In It For Me:
