MAY 1, 2026 Gallup Summer Youth Employment Program is a seasonal employment program for young men and women ages 16 through 25 from all segments of the community who work and learn together by completing projects of lasting benefit throughout the City of Gallup and McKinley County. YCC crew members are provided an opportunity to increase their self-esteem learn self-discipline and develop good work ethics. They relate with peers and supervisors and build lasting cultural bridges between youth from diverse social economic and ethnic backgrounds. YCC crew members are engaged in fun exciting work projects designed to develop environmental stewardship and civic responsibility such as: building and repairing trails; preserve maintain and enhance natural resources; rehabilitate and improve cultural historical and agricultural resources; benefit recreational areas and parks by improving their use and access; beautify improve and restore urban areas; and renovate community facilities including those for the elderly or indigent. YCC crew members receive safety and environmental education. Duties will include litter clean-up recycling brush removal trail marking building and maintenance of open trails and mapping/survey of existing trail system. Work involves physical and manual labor in an outdoor environment under potentially adverse weather conditions and rough terrain.

Summer Youth or YCC Laborer Part-time:

Summer Youth Laborer positions involve hard work in an outdoor setting. Use of tools such as hammers; shovels; rakes; wheelbarrows and power equipment such as weed eaters and lawn mowers may be involved to accomplish job duties.

Physical demands may include:

• Repetitive lifting of up to 30 pounds of weight; heavier weight will be assisted
• Extensive hiking on sometimes rough terrain
• Physically demanding work involving bending; pulling; digging; and lifting
• Exposure to summer heat; rain and demanding field conditions

Note:

Work attire will require outdoor clothing: long sleeve and pants. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be between the ages of 16-25 years old
• Must be unemployed
• Must be a New Mexico resident for at least six (6) months
• Must have a valid New Mexico ID card or driver's license

APRIL 3, 2026 Under the direct supervision of the Animal Protection Supervisor incumbent responds to calls and performs a variety of duties related to the capture impoundment and disposal of domestic and wild animals. Investigates complaints of animal bites and ensures that animals suspected to be carriers of rabies or other diseases are properly quarantined. Impounds injured and strayed animals that are causing community disturbances or complaints. Informs animal owners of responsibility to control and vaccinate in accordance to prevailing statutes laws and ordinances. Cites animal owners for violations and non-compliance files complaints through the court system and makes court appearances as necessary. Maintains records and collects fees. Ensures assigned vehicle is cleaned and serviced at proper intervals. Periodically serves as desk officer at the animal shelter and may be called upon to conduct tours of the premises.
