Job Description
Position Summary Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is seeking reliable and hardworking Paving Laborers to join our Midwest Central operations team. This role is essential in supporting asphalt paving crews with roadway, highway, and site construction projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities Assist in all aspects of asphalt paving operations, including roadways, parking lots, and commercial projects Perform manual labor such as shoveling, raking, smoothing, and compacting asphalt Support equipment operators and crew members in daily paving activities Set up and maintain safe traffic control devices and work zones Clean tools, equipment, and job sites before, during, and after projects Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies as needed Perform other duties as assigned by the crew foreman or supervisor Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous construction or paving experience is a plus, but not required Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50+ lbs and standing for extended periods Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Reliable transportation to job sites Work Environment Outdoor construction setting with exposure to heavy equipment and moving vehicles Frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, and standing Work performed in hot asphalt conditions and variable weather environments Overtime, weekend, and seasonal work may be required based on project needs
