Job Description

Job Summary:
Plant Laborers work as a team to dismantle, sort, and recycle oil filled electrical equipment. They are responsible for all activities related to the breakdown and handling of incoming and outgoing material throughout the Tonkawa facility.
First Shift:
7:00am-4:30pm
Starting Wage:
$16.25
Second Shift:
12:00pm-9:30pm
Starting Wage:
$17.25
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work some Saturdays and overtime when needed. Must be able to work inside and/or outside and be exposed to all weather elements, including extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures. Must be able to work in conditions that are exposed to loud noise, heavy vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and around hazardous and/or non-hazardous materials.
Physical Demands:
Must have physical strength and stamina , balance, and hand-eye coordination necessary to complete jobs in a physically demanding position. Must be able to lift, carry, and push and/or pull 50-pounds at a time. Must have the manual dexterity needed to operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Responsibilities:
Perform teardown operations of transformers and other electrical equipment. Safely and effectively operate machines and equipment such as forklift, core shears, and overhead cranes. Remove screws and cores from transformers using handheld standard and power operated tools. Understand and sort recyclable metals according to composition. Perform plasma and torch cutting by using safe work practices and proper work methods to open the equipment for further teardown. Work with team members to properly rig and offload equipment from trailers and relocate to other areas of the facilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions. Reliable transportation and commitment to daily attendance. Ability to remain flexible as assignments change. Understanding forklift signals and communication with forklift operators. Ability to work safely as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Previous experience operating forklifts, tools, and heavy machinery preferred.
