Job Summary To assist skilled tradesman by performing semi-skilled manual labor in construction, repair work; and to operate trucks. Responsibilities• Wheel or carry concrete, brick, stone, sand and other construction materials. Break-up concrete and asphalt, using air hammers and drills. Clean up rubble, using shovel, pick, wheelbarrow and broom. Level and tamp sites in preparation for the pouring of concrete or asphalt. Erect barricades and place appropriate signals around work sites. Participate in the mixing, pouring and curing of cement, mortar or plaster. Remove damaged sections of structures, using hammer, crowbar, scraper and broom. Load, unload and drive trucks in the transportation of construction materials and wastes. Clean and assist in the repair and installation of catch, basins, storm sewers and drain systems. Unplug clogged drains. Operate material hoists and compressors. Mix plaster, mortar and concrete. Erect and remove concrete forms and scaffolding. Cut or bore through walls, ceilings, or partitions. General housekeeping. Assist with maintenance of mason tools and equipment. Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor. Required Qualifications• Graduation from high school or equivalent. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials involved in construction laborer work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams. Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding. Reasonable manual strength and dexterity. Ability to maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of Google products, Smart Phone technology, tablet technology, and computers. Ability to conduct online research. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to wear a respirator or fresh air hood. Desired Qualifications• 5 years of commercial construction laboring experience. 2 years of commercial flatwork experience 2 years of commercial demolition experience 2 years of cutting, coring and boring experience 2 years of experience working in hospital and health care facilities 2 years of experience working in laboratory facilities 2 years of experience mixing plaster, mortar and concrete 2 years of experience tending masons and plasterers Experience and certification in the operation of aerial lifts (scissor lift, JLG's etc.) Exceptional communication skills Willingness to work overtime if required Two years of experience operating a business Two years of experience working with an automated work order system.
