Job Description

Job Title:
TEMPORARY LABORER
(2-4 POSITIONS
AVAILABLE
) Provide short-term, as-needed support for a variety of basic labor tasks across the District. Primary tasks include moving goods and materials, including furniture, supplies, fencing, sporting equipment, and other school items. This position will not perform construction activities. Work will be scheduled on an as-needed basis with inconsistent hours and days as mutually agreed. High school students interested in gaining work experience who believe they meet the requirements below are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
Ability to routinely and repeatedly lift, push, throw, stack, carry, and move 50 lbs Ability to perform physical tasks that may include standing, walking, lifting, and carrying items for extended periods of time, with reasonable accommodations provided as applicable Ability to properly and safely use wrenches and powerdrills Ability to shovel, wheelbarrow, and neatly spread gravel, stone, bark, or mulch History of good time management and attendance
Essential Functions:
Ability to perform general labor tasks such as moving materials, basic cleaning, setup and takedown of equipment, and assisting staff with other projects Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work under supervision Willingness to work a flexible and inconsistent schedule, including occasional weekend assignments Ability to reliably demonstrate a positive work ethic Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow safety procedures Ability to communicate respectfully with staff, students, and community members Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance Ability to perform other duties as assigned
Location:
East Grand Rapids Public Schools Rate:
Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications, but no less than $14.00 per hour
Hours :
Flexible and inconsistent hours with some weekends or evenings required
