Heavy Civil Construction Position Summary WT Byler is seeking dependable and hardworking Laborers / Helpers to support heavy civil construction operations. This role assists field crews in achieving production goals and maintaining project schedules by supporting foremen, subcontractors, and equipment operations while ensuring compliance with company safety standards. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working in demanding outdoor construction environments. Key Responsibilities Assist foremen and field supervisors with daily construction operations and production activities Support excavation, grading, and subgrade preparation crews on heavy civil construction projects Help maintain project schedules and productivity goals through effective teamwork and communication Work alongside subcontractors and equipment operators to ensure efficient jobsite coordination Perform general labor duties including site cleanup, material handling, and tool/equipment support Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements Identify and report potential jobsite hazards or unsafe conditions Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Support project management and field leadership as needed to ensure successful project execution Qualifications Previous construction or heavy civil experience preferred, but not required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Basic understanding of construction safety practices preferred Ability to lift, carry, and perform physically demanding tasks Valid drivers license preferred Skills & Competencies Team collaboration Safety awareness Time management Dependability and punctuality Communication skills Ability to work in fast-paced environments Work Environment Outdoor heavy civil construction job sites Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and manual labor activities Benefits WT Byler offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for career growth and professional development within the construction industry.
