WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE?
As a Full-Time Broadband Laborer with the City of Pharr, you will play a vital role in the execution of construction tasks crucial for underground telecommunications cable and fiber placement. Your responsibilities will include loading and delivering materials, operating various hand tools and mechanical equipment such as trenchers, mini excavators, and trenchless piercing tools. Collaboration is key, as you will assist team members in manual labor activities and contribute to site restoration efforts, ensuring high-quality standards are met. Additionally, you will operate a utility trailer for transporting essential equipment and materials, while also completing administrative duties like closing work orders and uploading photos as directed by the Fiber Manager. This position will require you to run fiber and network cables as needed, allowing you to directly impact our community's connectivity and innovation.REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS BROADBAND LABORER JOB

Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, are vital for addressing inquiries or complaints from city departments, outside organizations, customers, or citizens. The ability to operate necessary equipment, manage tasks under pressure, and produce accurate results is crucial in this fast-paced role. A strong customer-service orientation and a friendly attitude will foster positive interactions, reinforcing our mission to enhance community connectivity. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Knowledge on the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in the extension, repair and maintenance of fiber optic networks and conduit systems. Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the necessary safety precautions. Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making to resolve problems. Ability to use sound judgement to respond to inquiries or complaints from city departments, outside organizations, customers, or citizens. Ability to operate equipment necessary for the job. Able to work effectively under pressure and stringent schedules and produce accurate and satisfactory results. Able to communicate effectively, at all levels both orally and in writing.
