Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking General Construction Laborer to support roadway and maintenance operations for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Luray, VA. This role involves performing a variety of manual labor tasks in support of construction, maintenance, and traffic control projects to ensure safe and efficient roadway conditions.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Off on holidays
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general construction and maintenance labor on roadways and job sites Operate and use a variety of hand tools and basic construction equipment Assist with patching, grading, digging, loading, and material handling Set up and support work zone traffic control as needed Follow all safety procedures and job site regulations Obtain and maintain VDOT Flagger Certification (required) Work as part of a team to complete assigned projects efficiently
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor throughout the workday
Job Requirements:
Valid driver's license required Ability to obtain VDOT Flagger Certification Prior experience in general construction or manual labor preferred Ability to safely use construction hand tools and basic equipment Must be able to perform physically demanding work for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
