Full Job Description Job Summary:
Old Dominion Heat Trace is seeking a skilled Construction Technician to join our ongoing group. This hands-on role involves installation and support of commercial heat trace systems on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with job specifications and quality standards. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) for the past three years to be considered for this position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and discuss each day's work plan with your team to stay ahead of any safety or jobsite issues. Communicate with the crew and project leads about needed materials, tools, equipment, and labor. Install and test heat trace systems according to construction drawings and wiring schematics. Document testing results and work progress clearly and accurately. Meet daily and weekly production goals while maintaining job quality. Follow all safety rules and regulations (OSHA, state/local codes, company policies). Perform jobsite walk-throughs and handle punch list items. Keep an eye on the quality of the installation work as it's being done. Inspect tools and equipment to make sure everything is safe and working properly. Track the project schedule and flag any delays or conflicts so the team can get back on track. Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and free of hazards. Stay current on required certifications and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) for the past 3 years. At least one (1) year of experience in construction with HS diploma or GED. Prior construction industry and safety experience preferred Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Reliable and punctual Must have a reliable transportation and available to work extended hours, as needed Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to think critically and work independently Demonstrated customer service skills Must be an effective team player with a positive attitude Ability to interact with employees at all levels, supervisors, vendors, and other stakeholders in a positive, constructive manner
Preferred Experience:
Commercial insulation Electrical wiring (especially low voltage) Heat trace or controls systems Preferred Bilingual in
Spanish and English Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders, and stay active throughout the day. Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat and climb. Comfortable working outdoors and in different weather conditions Must be able to wear PPE and work in environments with dust, fumes, gases, toxic, caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Comfortable working at heights and around mechanical equipment. Must be able to travel daily to various job sites. Be physically active for long periods of time. Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video.
