Job Description

Overview:
UIC Sanatu is seeking a Superintendent to lead and manage a range of construction projects from planning through completion. This role is responsible for coordinating all phases of construction, including scheduling, budgeting, and oversight of subcontractors and labor crews. The Superintendent ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards. This position requires availability to address project issues, including weather delays or on-site emergencies, and involves regular collaboration with project owners, engineers, architects, and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Essential functions will include: Read and interpret engineering, architectural, and construction drawings and specifications. Perform basic cost estimating for change orders. Develop and maintain project schedules. Manage contract documentation, including work plans, daily reports, and submittals. Conduct basic job cost accounting and oversee timekeeping processes. Support day-to-day business management activities. Implement and enforce corporate safety programs and applicable safety regulations. Apply and interpret relevant building codes and construction standards. Ensure quality control measures and inspection procedures are followed and documented. Use basic mathematics in daily construction management tasks. Promote UIC Sanatu's positive reputation within the community. Represent UIC Sanatu effectively at external meetings and events. Maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, architects, and design consultants. Communicate and uphold UIC Sanatu's values of integrity, honesty, and quality. Lead by example and model UIC Sanatu's core values. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, cultural awareness, and a strong corporate image in all interactions.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 5 years of construction experience as a Project Superintendent or Foreman on industrial construction projects. A minimum of 2 years of direct experience on tank or fueling system projects in a Superintendent or Foreman role. Valid driver's license. Ability to perform basic project scheduling and change order cost estimating. Experience with contract administration, including preparation of work plans, daily reports, and submittals. Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and OSHA regulations. Proficient in basic mathematics. Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Demonstrated decisiveness and ability to perform well under pressure, particularly when managing delays or unexpected challenges. Proven ability to coordinate multiple major activities simultaneously while identifying and resolving project-specific issues. Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering, architectural, and construction drawings and specifications. Proficient with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office. Familiarity with job costing practices and systems. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership abilities with a track record of leading successful teams. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with project owners, managers, designers, supervisors, and field crews.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work more than a standard 40-hour week when the project schedule dictates. Ability to take temporary residence in another state when the project is outside Alaska. Extensive travel to and from construction sites.
