Construction Estimator / Project Manager

  • Full-Time About Us Hurst Construction is a growing, family-oriented general contracting company based in Oxford, Alabama.
We serve clients across the commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare sectors, managing projects ranging from $400,000 to $10,000,000. We pride ourselves on a close-knit, team-driven atmosphere where project managers, estimators, and superintendents work together to deliver quality construction with integrity and attention to detail. As our company continues to expand, we are seeking a motivated Estimator / Project Manager to join our team and grow with us. Position Summary This dual-role position is responsible for both estimating and managing construction projects from concept through close-out. The ideal candidate has strong estimating experience, proven project management ability, and can oversee multiple projects while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating
  • Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate estimates for projects ranging from $400K to $10M.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes, and prepare complete bid proposals.
  • Maintain cost databases and historical pricing to improve accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the owner and estimating team to develop project scopes and budgets.
  • Participate in value-engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Project Management
  • Manage awarded projects from start to finish: budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.
  • Prepare subcontracts, purchase orders, and manage change orders.
  • Work with superintendents to ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
  • Track project costs and financial performance, reporting regularly to leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of combined estimating and project management experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or healthcare construction.
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed estimates and manage multiple projects independently.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Familiarity with local subcontractors and suppliers in East-Central Alabama.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Benefits
