Job Description

The primary role of the Construction Superintendent to oversee the Mine Construction Operations, personnel, as well as the Logistics, Engineering, Administration, Project Controls, Safety, and training teams associated with the subcontractors performing the surface construction. The main function is to ensure achievable weekly and monthly plans are being produced and the teams are executing these plans safely and efficiently on a shift-by-shift basis. Will be responsible for Weekly, Monthly and KPI compliances monitoring this daily and directing the supervisors to ensure focus is provided in the correct areas to achieve the targets.
Education:
1. Bachelors in Mining Engineering or Construction Engineer or an equivalent of 10 years of Supervising/working in the construction or mining industry.
Work Experience:
1. Minimum 10 years' experience Underground Construction. 2. Must understand underground work environment. 3. Must understand responsibilities of leadership/ 4. Ability to multitask and work effectively with people from all nationalities. 5. Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently. 6. Able to work in team environment, and lead by example. 7. Willing to mentor and train others. 8. Willing to be trained in other aspects of the superintendent role. 9. Ability to read and understand design drawings and work documentation. 10. Understanding of Mine Regulations pertaining to task. 11. Ability to conduct risk assessment of specific task. 12. Understanding of work-related procedures and standards. 13. Ability to recognize and resolve problems as required. 14. Understanding of safety standards and procedures. 15. Understanding of work planning, scheduling, tracking and executing. 16. Ability to conduct process improvement and implementation.
Knowledge Required:

Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical. 1. Leads clarifying and/or defining parameters and deciding on construction processes to be utilized through daily handover meetings. 2. Ensure that the works undertaken is as per allocated work orders (Planned or Unplanned works). 3. Ensure work orders have all relevant and correct information before approval and distribution to teams for work execution. 4. Communicate with the Supervisors on all daily work allocations, site interactions and allocation of resources for daily tasks. 5. Mentor Supervisors and work force on construction methodology and shift planning. 6. Work with the Supervisors to ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner and to the pre-established work methodologies. This includes all isolations and communication of works to all other departments in the underground operations. 7. Review all daily shift reports to ensure accuracy on works done, construction delays, scope change, manpower allocation and training. 8. Ensure planning for the upcoming shift is accurate, executable, and done to achieve maximum safe productivity. 9. Ensure all work being done and manpower tasks/allocations meet the Project Manager, client, and project expectations/requirements. 10. Ensure all support members are working efficiently and providing the required support to the team without delay. 11. Ensure all Supervisors and team members are providing maximum allowable productive time in the field on active work areas. 12. Work with Supervisors to provide the material coordinators with material requirements for the upcoming projects. Utilize the daily shift work status brief to request materials with realistic durations. 13. Take appropriate action as critical dates approach to ensure a smooth transition from phase to phase and the ultimate completion of project within the allocated time frames. 14. Co-ordinate daily work activities based on the weekly work schedule and advise supervisors of delays and critical interactions. 15. Develop and train supervisors to achieve planned objective. 16. Work with the Supervisors to ensure construction compliance to standards, procedures and design intent required in the work orders. 17. Ensure solid understanding of construction requirements (including documentation and information), expectations, timing of construction and required materials. Ensure that the shift crews have current and accurate work orders, drawings, and specifications for the allocated work. 18. Ensure that the construction work force is working efficiently on all allocated works and provide mentoring to improve ways work can be continued in a safe efficient manner. 19. Work with the Supervisors to ensure that all training requirements are completed, all required training has been booked and personnel attend. 20. Start up of projects, work at site in the early start up to help get the construction department set up. 21. Review and evaluate all MSHA citations given to construction sub contractors. 22. Supporting employees and supervisors in conducting risk assessments. 23. Ensures all departments are aware of obligations with respect to compliance to legislative and client requirements, and conditions of the project contract and licenses. 24. Provide support to the project by maintaining a constant visible presence to the field performing underground site visits to the entire project area of responsibility. 25. Inform the project leadership team and supervision of any new or conflictive legislative matters that could impact the project. 26. Ensure all known incidents are reported immediately. 27. Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up and completed in a timely manner. 28. Review safety obligations of the clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the contract, and communicated to all, employees, leadership, etc. 29. Investigating workplace situations. 30. Addresses complaints from employees. 31. Responsible for ensuring and keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments. 32. Must be able to comprehend and provide written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in an efficient manner. 33. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures. 34. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information. 35. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). 36. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record. 37. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, weekends, holidays and shift rotations. 38. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility. 39.
