Job Description

MEP Superintendent (Data Center)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead on-site mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities for complex data center projects. The MEP Superintendent will oversee daily field operations, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, enforce safety and quality standards, and ensure schedules and budgets are met. The ideal candidate combines strong technical MEP knowledge with proven leadership on mission-critical facilities such as data centers.

Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and supervise all on-site MEP construction activities for data center projects, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and building automation systems.

Coordinate daily with general contractors, trade foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives to ensure work progresses to schedule and meets specifications.

Manage project schedule execution; develop and update look-ahead schedules, identify critical path items, and drive resolution of delays.

Oversee installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of mission-critical systems (generators, UPS, switchgear, PDUs, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification, fire suppression, and controls).Implement and enforce site safety programs and quality control procedures; conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA and client-specific safety requirements.

Review and interpret construction drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders; provide field direction and document as-built conditions.

Verify material deliveries, manage staging and storage, and coordinate logistics to minimize disruptions to schedule.

Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, progress photos, and other field documentation; support progress billing and project closeout documentation.

Mentor and supervise field staff and subcontractor crews, enforcing workmanship standards and productivity expectations.

Collaborate with commissioning agents and engineers to support system verification, punch-list completion, and successful turnover to operations.

QualificationsMinimum 8 years of construction experience with at least 4 years as an MEP Superintendent or Senior Foreman on commercial or industrial projects; prior data center experience strongly preferred.

Deep technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls systems used in mission-critical facilities.

Proven track record managing MEP installations for data centers or other critical facilities, including experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, and BMS integration.

Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple trade partners and stakeholders.

Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and commissioning documentation.
