This role requires someone who can independently manage jobsite tasks, coordinate with subcontractors, solve problems in the field, and help move projects from permitting through final inspection. The ideal candidate understands California residential construction standards, can read plans, communicate professionally with inspectors and clients, and maintain high-quality workmanship across multiple trades. Core Responsibilities Construction & Field Work Perform and oversee: Framing Finish carpentry Drywall and patchwork Basic plumbing and electrical Cabinet installation Doors/windows Siding and exterior repairs Tile and flooring Demo and structural modifications Decks, fences, and exterior structures Interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and specifications Layout walls, openings, structural components, and finish details Ensure all work meets California building code requirements and project specifications Troubleshoot field conditions and propose practical solutions Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites Permitting & Inspection Support Assist with permit-related scopes and corrections Understand general California residential code requirements including:
CBC / CRC
CALGreen Title 24 basics Life safety and structural requirements Coordinate and prepare for inspections Meet inspectors onsite when needed Identify potential code issues before inspection Assist PMs with documenting progress and permit compliance Project Coordination Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors Help maintain schedules and workflow between trades Order and track materials as needed Communicate jobsite updates to project managers and clients Identify change orders or unforeseen conditions early Maintain quality control throughout project phases Desired Skills & Experience 5+ years residential construction experience preferred Strong knowledge across multiple trades Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Experience with remodels, additions, and ADUs Familiarity with California permitting and inspection process Ability to read plans and perform accurate field measurements Proficient with common power tools and equipment Basic understanding of structural framing and load paths Strong problem-solving ability Clean driving record and reliable transportation preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience leading small crews OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Knowledge of energy compliance and Title 24 requirements Experience with seismic retrofits and structural repairs Ability to communicate with homeowners professionally Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Steady residential project pipeline Ideal Candidate This position is best suited for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, understands how to keep projects moving, and can wear multiple hats in the field.
