This role is vital in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, extensive construction site experience, and a deep understanding of construction management software and technical tools. You will coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to deliver exceptional results while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and project specifications. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can effectively manage a variety of subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to our high-quality standards. This role reports directly to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities On-Site Supervision & Coordination:
Oversee all on-site activities for new residential construction projects, ensuring work is performed according to plans, specifications, and timelines.
Subcontractor Management:
Coordinate, schedule, and manage subcontractors (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.), ensuring adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Scheduling & Logistics:
Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, identify and resolve any issues promptly, and ensure all construction meets or exceeds industry and company standards.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce all job site safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel. Conduct safety briefings as needed.
Communication & Reporting:
Serve as a key point of contact on-site. Maintain open and effective communication with project managers, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and occasionally clients. Provide regular progress reports.
Local Presence:
Maintain a strong understanding of local building codes and inspection processes in Altadena and LA County. Perform other duties as needed to support the field team and operations. Lead daily operations on construction sites, supervising crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth workflow and safety compliance. Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or other construction management software, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed. Oversee quality control processes by reviewing blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings; ensure work meets design specifications and industry standards. Manage project budgets, track costs, and perform construction estimating to keep projects financially on track. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety standards; conduct regular safety audits and enforce safety protocols across all site activities. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents; utilize tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing when required. Coordinate procurement of materials using HeavyBid or similar estimating tools; oversee contracts and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Maintain accurate project documentation including daily logs, incident reports, change orders, and progress reports. Utilize construction site management software Buildertrend. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality control, safety adherence, and environmental compliance. Experience Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) as a Field Manager, Field Coordinator, Site Supervisor, Superintendent, or similar role in residential construction is essential. Demonstrable experience successfully managing and leading subcontractors on residential construction projects. Strong understanding of residential construction processes, techniques, building codes, and safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications. Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Proactively identify potential issues and work collaboratively to find effective solutions to keep projects on track. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. Proficiency with construction management software (Buildertrend) is a plus. Valid California Driver's License & ability to drive to and from sites Knowledge of the local building environment is highly advantageous. OSHA certification (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30) is preferred.
Bilingual:
English/Spanish is a plus. Supervising experience with a focus on quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures throughout the project lifecycle. Working Conditions/Environment
