First and foremost we are design-centric and only build what we design. This keeps us unique, nimble, and able to maintain a high level of care, concern, and cost-control all the way through our projects. Our clients love it! We do mostly high-end, single-family residences from the ground up as well as extensive additions and remodels. Our aesthetic is modern, clean, open, and warm and our minimum job size is around $250K so we're not doing a lot of bathroom remodels! We currently have 2 construction supervisors that are trained in both the building arts and architecture. They also have extensive field experience and are proven creative problem-solvers. That would be the ideal description for this position as well. Among other things, the construction super will provide oversight for all aspects of at least 2 jobs at once; monitor job safety; coordinate schedules of trade contractors, vendors, and in-house labor; and prepare and monitor budgets, schedules, weekly reports. Your input into construction means and methods will be expected. You will also need to obtain necessary design, detail, and specification information from the project teams and be able to communicate clearly with just about everybody. And you'll get a chance to express your creative side through job-site photography. For starters you'll need at least 5 years experience in high-end residential construction management with (ideally) a background or degree in design or architecture. AutoCAD proficiency is helpful and you'll absolutely need to be able to read a set of drawings (all of them ‑- even the pesky structural ones). If you've only helped your Uncle Joe frame his chicken coop one summer back in high school this isn't the job for you. Sorry. Send us a resume and a cover letter stating your interest and why you're the one. Do not just toss us your resume alone and unadorned. We are not formal here nor are we sticklers for protocol (only good design and building codes). We just want to hear from you. We offer a really, really good salary (if you lived and worked in Des Moines) but alas, you're in SoCal. It's still really good though. We don't have much in the way of dental, vision, or health plans (hence the word 'small' in the first sentence) but we do give you vacation, sick pay and the 4th of July off (plus a few others)!
