Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Behavior Specialist supports site supervisors and instructors with student behavior analysis and ongoing monitoring of students who require support plans to sustain positive participation of these students in the program. The primary responsibility of the Behavior Specialist is to assist their Site Coordinator and site staff in assisting with day-to-day behavior issues with students enrolled in the after-school program. They work collaboratively with the site academic program supervisor (APS) and site supervisor in the development and implementation of individualized behavior support plans, as well as aid in the development of flexible schedules for students that need it. They work closely with the program staff to help train and assist in the development and implantation of individualized behavior support plans for students that need them. They will assist the Buena Park Titans After School Program and ensure that a high-quality after school program for children is consistently delivered to our students between TK-5th grade. Must be available to work five (5) days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 1:30PM-6:00PM; Thursday from 12:00PM-5:45PM- Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Help oversee at elementary school site(s) servicing grades TK-5th with any behavior-related student needs and support.
- Supervise students participating in the program, as well as Titans staff at assigned sites.
- Assist in training staff in positive behavior techniques.
- Train supervisors and staff on procedures and policies related to behavior modification, classroom instruction and engaging enrichment activities.
- Attend weekly staff site meetings.
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Attend weekly APS/Titans supervisor meeting
- Attend site principal/Titan Supervisor monthly meetings as requested or needed.
- Attend Parent/APS/Titan meetings as requested or needed.
- Communicate regularly with upper administration at school district
- Assist in weekly site meetings as needed
- Conduct daily classroom visits to coach staff on behavior strategies.
- Conduct daily classroom visits to observe students needing extra assistance with behavior or program assimilation.
- Train staff/supervisors on disciplinary procedures regarding students
- Attend upper management/administrator meetings with the district, as required.
- Attend upper management program supervisor meetings, as required.
- Assist in developing training modules tailored to early grade staff
- Provide and implement training for TK-5th grade staff.
- Follow all human resource policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing standards and state and federal regulations.
- Help develop and create Titans After School Program documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Strong understanding of behavior management and effective disciplinary techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience creating lesson plans for TK-5th grade students.
- Experience working with TK-5th grade students.
- Technologically proficient, with the ability to effectively use relevant tools and software.
- Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Enthusiastic and highly motivated.
- Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel) and Google Drive (e.g., Docs, Sheets).
- Flexible, team-oriented, and passionate about making a difference in children's lives.
EDUCATION
- Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of minimum 12-15 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods while supervising students and conducting classroom visits. The role involves frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to engage with students and support activities. Candidates must be able to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Strong visual and auditory abilities are essential for observing and responding to student behavior, ensuring a safe and productive environment. The position may involve working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including during varying weather conditions.Job Type:
