  • Staff Management
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified staff. Develop work plans, conduct regular staff meetings to communicate policy and licensing updates, coordinate training opportunities, manage scheduling, and maintain accurate, confidential employee records in compliance with California licensing requirements.
  • Children & Families
  • Maintain enrollment at or above 80% of licensed capacity.
Oversee complete and current enrollment records, ensure full compliance with California licensing standards (health, safety, nutrition, environment, and physical well-being), implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and behavior management plans, and foster a culturally respectful environment. Build relationships with families, connect them with community resources, and report suspected abuse/neglect as required by law.
  • Center Operations
  • Maintain the facility in accordance with state licensing standards.
Manage center records, emergency drills, and inspections. Develop and oversee the annual budget, payroll, and benefits. Set and manage fee structures, approve supply and classroom material orders, and represent the center in the community. Collaborate with Coordinators and Directors to ensure smooth program operations and maintain a safe, healthy, and positive work environment. Candidates are required to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of Early Childhood Education (ECE) principles and maintain compliance with all state regulatory frameworks of Title 5 and Title 22 guidelines. The following qualifications and skills are essential for this leadership role:
Educational and Certification Requirements:
Valid California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit. Associate of Arts (AA) degree or a minimum of 60 college units, including at least 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Completion of 6 units in Administration and 2 units in Adult Supervision. Current Preventative Health Card or documented completion of Health, Safety, and Nutrition coursework.
Professional Experience:
A minimum of two years of direct experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children within the last four years. At least two years of proven experience in adult supervision and staff management. Demonstrated success in engaging effectively with diverse populations, including low-income and minority families across all socioeconomic levels. Deep understanding of the unique developmental and social needs of children and families within rural communities.
Core Competencies and Functional Skills:
Ability to foster supportive, non-judgmental environments for children in strict alignment with program standards. Proficiency in mathematical computations, including the ability to calculate percentages and perform fundamental arithmetic for reporting purposes. Exceptional verbal communication skills in English to facilitate the exchange of complex ideas; bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred. Strong technical writing skills for the production of formal reports, detailed observations, and professional documentation using correct grammar and formatting. Advanced organizational capabilities to manage rigorous schedules, meet firm deadlines, and maintain flexibility in dynamic environments. A professional demeanor characterized by a positive attitude and a sensitive approach to the evolving needs of children, staff, and families.
