ABOUT MHC
Mike Holland Construction is a premier high-end residential general contractor based in Orange County, California. We specialize in luxury remodels, ADUs, and ground-up multi-family construction. We build relationships as carefully as we build projects — and we're looking for a Superintendent who shares that philosophy. We are only interested in long-term, career-minded professionals who take pride in their work and bring the same level of professionalism to every project, whether it's a $300K ADU or a $5M multi-family build.
THE ROLE
As Superintendent of our ADU & Multi-Family Division, you will be the boots-on-the-ground leader responsible for the daily execution, safety, quality, and schedule performance across multiple concurrent projects. You will be the face of MHC in the field — representing our standards with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors every single day.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Leadership & Coordination
  • Manage daily field operations across multiple ADU and multi-family projects simultaneously
  • Walk all active job sites daily to monitor progress, quality, and safety
  • Coordinate and schedule all subcontractors, consultants, and material vendors in the critical path to ensure on-time delivery
  • Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings and job site safety meetings
  • Ensure each subcontractor fully executes and complies with their contracted scope of work
  • Issue notices of non-compliance immediately when quality, safety, or schedule standards are not met Quality Control
  • Perform rigorous quality control inspections throughout all phases of construction
  • Identify and document deficiencies; ensure corrections are completed before work advances
  • Manage project punch lists from identification through completion
  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil construction drawings to verify work in the field Permitting & Inspections
  • Coordinate all required inspections with local jurisdictions, including building, fire, planning, and public works
  • Maintain strong working relationships with building inspectors and code enforcement officers across Orange County municipalities
  • Interface with city officials and plan checkers as needed to advance permit approvals and resolve field corrections Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed daily logs with photo documentation in BuilderTrend — every day, every project, no exceptions
  • Communicate ASIs, RFIs, submittals, and schedule changes clearly and promptly to the project management team
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and escalate immediately with proposed solutions
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at all times Client & Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary field point of contact for clients, maintaining a professional, polished, and solutions-oriented presence at all times
  • Partner with the Project Manager on budget tracking, client-facing schedule updates, and change order coordination
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent for a licensed General Contractor
  • Proven experience managing ADU projects, multi-family construction, or high-density residential — experience with all three is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to run multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality or communication
  • Extensive experience working within Orange County municipalities — you know the inspectors, the quirks, and how to get projects through
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, civil, and MEP construction drawings
  • Proficiency in BuilderTrend (or comparable construction management software), Microsoft Word, and Excel Key Attributes
  • Exceptionally organized — you manage competing priorities without letting anything slip through the cracks
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communicator — your daily logs and emails reflect the same professionalism you bring in person
  • Articulate, polished, and composed with clients — you know how to deliver difficult news without creating panic
  • Natural leader who earns the respect of subcontractors and inspectors through consistency and follow-through
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven — you don't cut corners and you don't miss dates
  • Dependable team player who brings solutions, not problems
  • Safety-first mindset — you identify and correct hazards before they become incidents
  • Ability to build and maintain strong rapport with clients, subcontractors, and team members
