December 2024 Job Summary The House Coordinator provides guidance and direction to assigned staff, overseeing the daily living experience for residents within their designated house at Hanna Center. Working closely with the VP of Residential, Director of Residences, Director of Transitional Housing Programs & Alumni Relations, Clinical Director, and Hanna Academy representative, this role ensures that the group home environment supports the development of socially appropriate behaviors and fosters a therapeutic atmosphere. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Oversee the quality assurance of the assigned house program to ensure it reflects best practices, trauma-informed care, and quality standards. Ensure accountability of youth counselors, with assessments and interventions centered on trauma-informed principles. Provide regular updates to the Director of Residence, VP of Residential Programs, and Clinical Director. Serve as a positive adult role model by fostering supportive relationships and maintaining clear boundaries for residents Implement and update ILP Needs Service Plans as required. The responsibilities of the NPS and TAY Program Coordinators will differ in ensuring attendance at required school meetings and managing other school-related responsibilities. Supervise students and implement treatment approaches such as Restorative Practices, Life Space Interviews, Universal Trauma Training, ACE Study, and Workforce Protection policies De-escalate crises and implement crisis intervention skills as needed. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures. Collaborate with the clinical department to offer trauma-informed consultation, coaching, and support to team members. Address behavior management concerns as needed. Evaluate and manage the performance of assigned staff, making recommendations regarding salary, promotion, discipline, and discharge when appropriate. Oversee the administration and secure storage of house medications. Ensure completion of the daily inspection checklist for the assigned house. Facilitate team meetings and agendas and participate in weekly coordinator meetings. Manage staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage and filling in as needed. Provide necessary training to ensure all staff are properly equipped. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, budgeting, quarterly reports, and house maintenance. Participate in rotating pager duties. Perform additional duties as assigned. Core Competencies Ability to train and educate Youth Counselors in TIC and group home program. Ability to demonstrate and develop positive interactive relationships while establishing clear boundaries for the participants and staff. Ability to maintain a therapeutic environment for the participants. Knowledge of safety rules and emergency procedures. Knowledge of medication protocol and ability to conduct medication audits. Ability to communicate with team members and other center personnel. Knowledge of crisis intervention skills. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise students, implementing treatment approaches and or techniques which include Restorative Practice, Life Space Interviews, Universal Trauma Training, ACE Study, Workforce Protection and Policies that Reflect Trauma Informed Care. Qualifications BA in Social Science or related field preferred; experience working with children required. Strong discretionary judgment and ability to de-escalate and resolve conflicts involving staff, residents, and families. Commitment to ongoing professional development, including completion of the HBC Certificate Program. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, including understanding of community, intergenerational, and historical trauma. Ability to identify professional development needs and coordinate staff training. Effective skills in group facilitation, team management, and consensus-building, supporting trauma-informed care initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additional Requirements Must pass a background check for Community Care Licensing, including physical, TB, and drug testing. Must hold a valid CA driver's license and meet the requirements for insurability under Hanna Center's policy. Certification in (or willingness to obtain) Mandated Reporting, Crisis Intervention, CPR, First Aid, and community water safety. This requires physical ability to bend, squat, stoop, and walk flights of stairs, with the capability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 20 pounds.
