Job Description
Position Summary Under the direction of the General Manager, the Ops Production Manager I provides overall leadership and operational oversight for all project site functions, including engineering, planning, reclamation field operations, and equipment maintenance. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all activities in alignment with contractual obligations, company standards, customer expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements. The Ops Production Manager I is responsible for driving high standards of safety, health, and environmental performance while ensuring that project milestones are delivered on schedule and within budget. Supervisor Responsibilities This position has direct supervisory responsibility for superintendents, supervisors, planners, and other site personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide overall direction and management of engineering, planning, field operations, and maintenance activities on the project site. Ensure all operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and local, state, and federal regulations. Plan, assign, and review the work of superintendents, front-line supervisors, planners, and hourly personnel. Coordinate, monitor, and adjust daily activities to achieve project milestones and optimize equipment availability, preventive maintenance, and scheduled maintenance. Ensure adherence to quality control procedures and best operational practices. Analyze project progress and adjust priorities or resources to maintain safe and efficient operations. Communicate the status of work activities clearly and professionally with the customer. Prepare, review, and maintain accurate reports documenting project performance and progress. Collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support project goals. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, Westmoreland Mining LLC guidelines, and all safety and environmental requirements. Typical Physical Demands Requires prolonged sitting with occasional bending, stooping, and stretching. Frequent data entry for extended periods. Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, phone, copier, calculator) Requires adequate hearing and vision to prepare, review, and communicate reports effectively. Mobility sufficient to travel as needed. Typical Working Conditions Work involves both office and active mine site environments, requiring compliance with all safety and environmental standards and occasional evening or weekend work. Occasional offsite travel may be necessary depending on assigned duties. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Licenses, Registration, and Certifications Colorado Surface Mine Foreman Certificate, or ability to obtain it within 3 months preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license through duration of employment. Must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland's policies or Driver's insurance provider. What We Offer This position is expected to pay $135,000 - $160,000 annually; depending on skills, experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
