The Director of Construction manages a team of 6 to 7 Project Managers and reports directly to executive leadership. The role carries full responsibility for project delivery, operational performance, client relationships, and regional growth across commercial sectors including restoration, interiors, retail, office, institutional, and light industrial work. Schedule Full-time position. Regular travel across Connecticut and New York is required to visit active project sites and meet with clients. Schedule is primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility based on project demands. Compensation Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives. Specific compensation will be discussed during the interview process. What You'll Do As Director of Construction, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all construction activities across the firm's CT and NY footprint. You will oversee and mentor a team of 6 to 7 Project Managers, guiding them through all phases of project delivery from preconstruction and budgeting through construction, closeout, and client handoff. You will be accountable for project profitability, schedule performance, and client satisfaction across a portfolio of concurrent commercial projects. In partnership with executive leadership, you will develop and execute growth strategies to expand market presence in Connecticut and New York, identify new client and partnership opportunities, and set annual financial targets and operational KPIs. You will own resource allocation, project forecasting, and workforce planning across the team, ensuring that staffing and subcontractor relationships are aligned with pipeline and backlog. You will establish and reinforce standards for safety, quality, and accountability across all field and office operations. You will represent the company in client, vendor, and community relationships, and will be expected to bring both the strategic perspective to drive growth and the operational depth to resolve project-level issues directly when needed. Required Qualifications 10 or more years of progressive experience in construction management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role with direct reports Demonstrated experience leading commercial construction projects across sectors such as restoration, interiors, retail, office, institutional, or light industrial Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and multi-disciplinary project teams Strong working knowledge of construction operations, project controls, scheduling, and financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis Experience developing and executing business growth strategies in a regional construction market Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in executive-level reporting and client relationship management Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field Ability to travel regularly across Connecticut and New York Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field Experience with select high-end residential or mixed-use projects in addition to commercial work OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety leadership credential Familiarity with construction management software platforms (Procore, Viewpoint, Sage, or similar) Existing professional relationships with owners, developers, or general contractors in the CT/NY market Compensation and Benefits Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentive compensation (specifics confirmed during the interview process) Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Company vehicle or travel allowance Paid time off (PTO) To apply, please submit your resume through Indeed.
