The Construction Manager will provide on-site oversight for electrical transmission line and underground conduit installation across active Baltimore city streets. This role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are completed safely, in compliance with contract requirements, and aligned with project quality, schedule, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily field construction activities for electrical transmission line and underground conduit installation in urban environments. Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and safety requirements. Conduct field inspections to verify quality of work, materials, and adherence to plans and standards. Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, utility companies, and city agencies to ensure smooth execution of work. Ensure compliance with Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA) traffic control requirements and permit conditions. Review and track construction progress, identifying risks, delays, or conflicts and implementing mitigation strategies. Maintain detailed daily reports, inspection logs, and project documentation. Support resolution of field issues through RFIs, design clarifications, and coordination with project teams. Monitor and enforce jobsite safety practices, particularly in high-traffic, night work conditions. Participate in progress meetings and provide status updates to project leadership.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in Construction Inspection. Required experience must include at least 2 years working on electrical transmission line and underground conduit installation projects. Strong knowledge of construction practices, inspection procedures, and urban utility work. Experience working in active roadway environments with traffic control requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Strong communication and coordination skills with field teams and stakeholders. MD SHA Traffic Certification MDSHA Yellow Card Certification ACI certification (preferred) Experience working on utility or infrastructure projects within Baltimore or similar municipalities. Prior experience working night shifts on urban infrastructure projects. Familiarity with MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) plans. Experience with Pepco, BGE, or similar utility providers a plus.
Compensation:
Salary range: $104,000 - $125,000/yearly (dependent on years of experience, competency, travel requirements)
