We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Project Manager to join our growing team and take charge of high-impact utility infrastructure projects across the DMV area. Position Summary As a Project Manager , you will have total ownership over the planning, execution, and close-out of heavy civil, wet/dry utility, and power infrastructure projects. You won't just manage from a desk—you will lead project progress onsite, serving as the primary point of contact for premier general contractors, municipal partners, and our internal field teams. Your focus will be managing subcontractor execution, resource scheduling, and keeping projects safely on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Scheduling :
Create, update, and maintain detailed baseline schedules, progress tracking, and critical path milestones from pre-construction through close-out. Resource Allocation :
Create and maintain detailed resource allocation schedules for field labor, company vehicles, and specialized heavy construction equipment/tools to optimize project efficiency. Utility & Site Coordination :
Coordinate complex wet/dry utility infrastructure projects, including high-voltage duct bank installations, directional drilling, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE). Project Documentation :
Prepare RFIs, project submittal packages, initiate change order requests, and manage all formal project correspondence with stakeholders. Compliance & Reporting :
Understand, prepare, and maintain all necessary project reporting required by clients, general contractors, and government/state agencies, including: As-built drawings Certified prevailing wage reports CCIP/OCIP
(Contractor/Owner Controlled Insurance Programs) compliance Subcontractor & Vendor Management :
Manage, negotiate, and align subcontractor and supplier scopes. Lead weekly on-site and underground coordination meetings to ensure field alignment. Financial Control :
Manage project buyouts, analyze bid quotes, review estimates, process monthly pay applications, and aggressively manage project margins. Stakeholder Communication :
Serve as the primary liaison representing the company at progress meetings with owners, developers, engineers, and general contractors. Safety & Compliance :
Enforce strict OSHA guidelines and company safety protocols, ensuring all field crews and subcontractors prioritize a zero-incident work environment. Required Qualifications Experience :
4+ years of active project management experience specifically in heavy civil, wet/dry utilities, or electrical/duct bank infrastructure construction . Technical Skill :
Strong ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings, site plans, utility specs, and project profiles. Subcontractor Alignment :
Proven track record of actively managing, scheduling, and holding subcontractors accountable on active field sites. Administrative & Financial Acumen :
Demonstrated experience handling the business side of construction, including RFIs, submittals, change order valuations, and agency/compliance reporting. Communication :
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting progress updates to executive clients and resolving field challenges with site superintendents. Software Proficiency :
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in modern construction management platforms (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, PlanGrid, Aconex, or MS Project). Location :
Ability to regularly visit job sites and attend coordination meetings in the Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia areas. Job Type:
