Commissioning Manager CDM Smith - 3.8 Boca Raton, FL Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Commissioning Manager The Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, leading, and executing all pre-commissioning, startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities for complex design-build and industrial infrastructure projects. This role works collaboratively with project management, engineering, construction, operations, contractors, and clients to ensure systems are safely commissioned, fully operational, and successfully transitioned to the owner. The Commissioning Manager oversees commissioning scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and reporting while leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development and implementation of project-specific commissioning plans, startup procedures, testing protocols, schedules, and turnover documentation. Manage and coordinate all commissioning activities from design review and equipment installation through startup, performance testing, client acceptance, and project closeout. Direct multidisciplinary commissioning teams including engineers, operators, technicians, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient execution. Review design packages, P&IDs, vendor documentation, equipment submittals, and operational requirements to support system operability and commissioning readiness. Monitor commissioning scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance while resolving field issues, punch lists, RFIs, and operational constraints. Coordinate closely with project management, construction, operations, vendors, regulatory agencies, and clients to maintain alignment throughout project execution. Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, startup documentation, testing records, O&M manuals, training materials, and project status updates. Support operator training, operational readiness, and transition from construction to full facility operations. =Ensure compliance with all corporate safety procedures and regulatory requirements including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and safe startup practices. Mentor junior commissioning staff and support business development efforts related to commissioning and startup services. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Driver's License Requirements An appropriate and valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with water/wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, or energy facilities preferred. Amount of Travel Required 50% Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of commissioning, startup, construction management, and industrial or infrastructure project delivery. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex projects in fast-paced environments. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to interpret technical, operational, and project information to drive efficient project execution and problem resolution. .
