Job Description
Estimating Manager - Structural Steel The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating function for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. This role oversees bid strategy, pricing, and proposal development while working closely with operations, project management, and leadership to win profitable work.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the estimating team for structural steel and misc. metals projects Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to develop accurate takeoffs and cost estimates Oversee pricing for materials, labor, fabrication, and erection Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes Manage bid schedules and ensure timely, complete submissions Work with project management and operations to align estimates with execution plans Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within each bid Participate in scope reviews, value engineering, and preconstruction meetings Maintain historical cost data and continuously improve estimating processes Support business development efforts and client relationships as needed
Qualifications:
5-10+ years of estimating experience in structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications Experience with takeoff and estimating software (Tekla PowerFab, Bluebeam, etc.) Solid knowledge of material pricing, labor production rates, and market conditions Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple bids at once and meet deadlines Send resume to mitchell.guerrieri@gogpac.com for more information
