Job Title:
Superintendent Job Description The Superintendent oversees all phases of commercial construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. This role coordinates field operations, manages subcontractors and vendors, and uses modern construction management software to drive efficient project execution and clear documentation. Responsibilities Plan, execute, and oversee ground-up and tenant improvement construction projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget. Create, maintain, and adjust detailed project schedules, coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to meet key milestones and final completion dates. Supervise daily construction activities on commercial construction sites, including site construction and mixed-use projects, to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes. Interpret and work from architectural and engineering blueprints and drawings to guide field crews and subcontractors. Ensure strict adherence to OSHA and other safety standards, promoting a strong culture of construction safety and conducting regular site inspections. Monitor and enforce quality control standards, inspecting work in progress and completed work to confirm it meets required specifications. Use construction management and technical software such as Procore, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and MS Project for scheduling, documentation, RFIs, and project tracking. Manage RFIs, changes, and documentation related to scope modifications, coordinating with project stakeholders to keep records accurate and current. Oversee underground utility work and other specialized site activities to ensure they are completed safely and according to design requirements. Coordinate and manage relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors, ensuring timely delivery of materials, services, and equipment. Lead and supervise construction teams in the field, providing clear direction, resolving issues promptly, and maintaining high performance and productivity. Identify and address problems that arise during construction, making informed decisions to keep the project on track. Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, inspections, safety records, and quality control logs. Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to communicate progress, address concerns, and ensure expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, including ground-up and tenant improvement projects. Strong construction management and construction supervision skills, with the ability to oversee all phases of site construction. Proficiency with Procore for project management, documentation, RFIs, and field communication. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and engineering plans. Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe job site. Demonstrated project management skills, including scheduling, coordination, and budget awareness. Hands-on experience with quality control and inspection processes on commercial construction sites. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Proven leadership skills to lead, motivate, and direct construction teams toward project goals. Strong problem-solving abilities to quickly identify and resolve issues in the field. High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the construction process. Solid time management skills to balance multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines. Sound decision-making skills to make informed choices that positively impact project outcomes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with underground utility work and related construction practices. Background working with general contractors on commercial and mixed-use projects. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and MS Project for planning, coordination, and documentation. Experience managing tenant improvement and site construction projects from start to finish. Knowledge of RFI processes, change documentation, and construction administration workflows. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning new construction technologies and methods. Work Environment This role is based primarily on commercial construction sites, including ground-up, tenant improvement, and mixed-use projects. The Superintendent works in an active field environment, regularly coordinating with trade partners, vendors, and internal teams. The position involves frequent on-site presence, walking the job site, conducting inspections, and overseeing day-to-day field operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ormond Beach, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.00/hr.
