$85,000 - $120,000 per year, based on experience About Us Smith & Company Inc. is a growing heavy civil construction contractor specializing in underground utilities, site development, roadway improvements, and asphalt construction throughout the Treasure Coast and surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations, manage crews and subcontractors, maintain project schedules, and ensure safe and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate has experience managing underground utility, site development, roadway, and earthwork projects and possesses strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate all field operations related to site development, underground utilities, grading, excavation, stormwater systems, and paving. Manage company crews and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications. Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and survey information. Coordinate daily work activities, manpower, equipment, and material deliveries. Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Maintain daily reports, production tracking, and project documentation. Monitor project schedules and communicate progress with project management staff. Coordinate with inspectors, engineers, owners, and project managers. Identify and resolve field issues to maintain project productivity and quality. Assist with project planning, sequencing, and scheduling. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in civil construction, site development, underground utilities, or heavy earthwork. Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, water, sewer, storm drainage, and site development operations. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and survey data. Experience managing field crews and subcontractors. Strong leadership and communication skills. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30 Certification. Experience with HCSS Field, Procore, or similar construction management software. GPS machine control and layout experience. Experience with FDOT, municipal, or commercial site development projects.
