Job Description

Summer Camp Director - Joyful Adventures (Joyful Roots Foundation) We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and compassionate Camp Director to lead and oversee our Joyful Adventures Summer Camp , an 8-week program serving children with autism and other special needs. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on daily camp operations, staff supervision, and program implementation to ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment for all campers. As a key leader, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities, supporting staff performance, maintaining schedules, and ensuring that all programming aligns with our mission of providing inclusive, high-quality, ABA-supported experiences . Your leadership will foster a positive, supportive atmosphere where campers can build social, communication, and functional life skills. Responsibilities Oversee daily camp operations to ensure smooth, safe, and structured programming Manage and maintain staff schedules , assignments, and coverage Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to staff (RBTs, counselors, and support team) Ensure all activities are implemented in alignment with behavioral and safety protocols Maintain appropriate staff-to-camper ratios , especially for children requiring individualized support Support behavior management by collaborating with clinical staff and modeling appropriate interventions Monitor camper engagement and ensure activities are adapted to meet individual needs and abilities Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and leadership regarding camper progress and any concerns Oversee transitions, routines, and daily structure to ensure consistency and predictability for campers Assist with coordination of community outings/field trips Ensure compliance with all policies, including confidentiality, safety, and incident reporting procedures Maintain organization of materials, schedules, and daily operations within the facility Skills & Qualifications Experience working with children with autism and/or special needs (ABA experience strongly preferred) Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to support and guide staff Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of behavior management strategies and structured programming Excellent communication skills with staff, families, and leadership Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts daily Passion for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping create a supportive, structured, and joyful summer experience for children and families.
