Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and safety-driven Electrical Coordinator to support construction and maintenance activities at utility-scale power plant and substation facilities. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day electrical field operations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and supporting project execution from planning through commissioning. The Electrical Coordinator will work closely with the Construction Manager, field personnel, subcontractors, and client representatives to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Construction Coordination Support and coordinate daily electrical construction and maintenance activities at power plant and substation facilities. Ensure all electrical work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and utility standards. Assist the Construction Manager in directing field personnel and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor field progress and contribute to achieving daily, weekly, and overall project milestones. Coordinate multiple workstreams, contractors, and deliverables across active project scopes. Safety, Quality & Compliance Promote and enforce strict adherence to company safety programs, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements. Lead and participate in daily job briefings, toolbox talks, and safety walks. Ensure all work activities comply with environmental, health, and safety standards. Support the implementation of quality control processes, inspections, and testing procedures. Scheduling & Reporting Assist in developing and maintaining construction schedules and short-term (micro) schedules. Prepare and maintain daily reports, field logs, and timekeeping records. Track productivity, identify risks, and communicate schedule impacts to project leadership. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress, issues, and resolutions. Field Operations & Logistics Coordinate site deliveries, materials, and equipment to support ongoing construction activities. Maintain jobsite organization, cleanliness, and adherence to site logistics plans. Support permitting activities and ensure compliance with site access and regulatory requirements. Facilitate communication between field crews, engineering teams, and project leadership. Stakeholder & Client Coordination Build and maintain strong working relationships with utility owners, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies. Serve as a key liaison between the field and project stakeholders to ensure alignment and issue resolution. Support client meetings, inspections, and walkthroughs as required. Technical Oversight Demonstrate working knowledge of substation and power plant electrical systems, including both below-grade and above-grade construction. Support testing and commissioning activities, including system energization and turnover documentation. Assist in troubleshooting field issues and coordinating technical solutions with engineering teams. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred (or equivalent field experience). Minimum 5-7+ years of experience in electrical construction within power plants, substations, or transmission & distribution projects. Background as a Journeyman Electrician or Lineman is strongly preferred. Proven experience with utility-scale electrical systems, including substations, switchyards, or generation facilities. Understanding of testing and commissioning processes for electrical systems. Familiarity with utility standards, codes, and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
