Job Description
SuperintendentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site construction activities for commercial projects including retail, hospitality, grocery, cold storage, and food & beverage facilities. The Superintendent will be responsible for daily field supervision, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring quality, safety, schedule adherence, and interfacing with project management and clients. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of MEP, electrical, fit-out/TI and ground-up construction.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide daily on-site supervision and leadership for commercial construction projects, including retail, hospitality, grocery, cold storage and food & beverage facilities.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trades to ensure work proceeds according to schedule and contract documents.
Enforce company and client safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, and maintain OSHA and site safety documentation.
Interpret drawings and specifications (architectural, structural, MEP) and ensure work is installed per design and quality standards.
Develop, maintain and update the site schedule; proactively identify and mitigate schedule risks to meet milestone dates.
Collaborate with project managers to manage cost, change orders, and labor productivity; report progress and forecast impacts to budget and schedule.
Oversee quality control, inspections, and commissioning; ensure punch lists are closed out and project turnover is complete.
Manage site logistics, deliveries, material storage, and coordination of temporary utilities to optimize productivity.
Facilitate daily coordination meetings with foremen, subcontractors and client representatives; maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation.
Ensure compliance with permitting, code requirements and client-specific standards; coordinate inspections with agencies and Army Corps of Engineers personnel when applicable.
Supervise installation and coordination of MEP systems and electrical scope; support fit-out/TI activities and specialty construction for cold storage and food & beverage projects.
Mentor and develop field personnel, enforce company policies, and promote a collaborative, solution-focused jobsite culture.
QualificationsMinimum 7-10 years of commercial construction field experience as a Superintendent or Lead Superintendent on retail, hospitality, grocery, or food & beverage projects; experience on ground-up and tenant improvement (TI)/fit-out projects required.
Proven experience with MEP, electrical coordination, cold storage construction and specialized food & beverage systems.
Familiarity with Army Corps of Engineers project requirements and working with government/agency inspections strongly preferred.
Strong project management skills: scheduling, cost control, subcontractor management, RFIs, and change order administration.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and submittals; strong attention to quality and detail.
Current OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain) and strong safety leadership record.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work directly with clients, design teams, and project management.
Proficiency with construction management software and tools for scheduling, reporting and document control.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between jobsites as required.

Preferred:
Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; PMP, LEED, or other relevant certifications a plus.Similar remote jobs
