Commissioning Senior Technician Tri-City Group Davenport, IA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification OSHA 30 Driver's License First Aid Certification Full Job Description Tri-City Group is currently seeking a Commissioning Senior Technician for Davenport, IA. This position is responsible for executing and supporting commissioning activities with a focus on safety, system accuracy, and field coordination. This role manages RFIs, performs system walkdowns, verifies documentation and equipment, and ensures alignment between design and field conditions while coordinating with subcontractors and supporting startup and testing activities.
Essential Functions:
Lead implementation and enforcement of the site safety startup plan, including coordination of LOTO activities with the site LOTO owner Facilitate daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and crew safety briefings Identify, assess, and communicate risks related to startup procedures, new personnel, and first-time energized equipment Exercise and promote the Stop Work Authority to ensure a safe work environment Ensure all commissioning personnel, including equipment manufacturers, complete required site-specific safety training Maintain full visibility of RFI status, timelines, and priorities for assigned projects Generate and submit RFIs in response to field conditions and design discrepancies Perform independent system walkdowns, including one-lines, flow diagrams, and schematics Verify equipment tagging accuracy throughout walkdowns Identify documentation gaps across trades and multi-vendor packages Prepare redline markups for review and approval by the Commissioning Manager Participating in Factory Acceptance Testing alongside the Commissioning Manager Develop a functional understanding of plant systems and operations through FAT involvement Contribute to discussions on system design and plant functionality Validate alignment between plant design, flow diagrams, and
SCADA/HMI
interfaces Execute work in alignment with the commissioning plan, including all milestones and responsible parties Monitor subcontractor progress and compile turnover documentation for each scope of work Identify, document, and assign punch list items Conduct field oversight to verify subcontractor work quality and scope compliance Review subcontractor daily reports for accuracy and escalate discrepancies as needed Prepare and submit detailed daily reports to the Commissioning Manager, including site conditions, work activities, completion status, and photo documentation Utilize Procore and Timestamp Photos for consistent and accurate data collection Support development of site-specific commissioning procedures using established templates Review and validate procedures to ensure alignment with plant design and equipment requirements

Work Environment:
Work is performed in both office and active construction site environments Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, varying weather, noise, dust, and energized equipment Frequent interaction and exchange of information with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams in fast-paced, safety-sensitive settings Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers
Travel:
80% travel required; project-site-based and in office.
Qualifications:
Electrical journeyman, technical degree, or equivalent field experience OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications required Valid driver's license required NETA ATS/ETT or equivalent testing experience preferred
Technical Experience:
Power systems commissioning (relays, reclosers, switching procedures) Ability to read and interpret one-lines, PLC drawings, and control narratives SCADA systems and basic networking knowledge Experience with generation systems, DC systems, and VFD/soft start equipment Familiarity with solar PV systems is a plus
Tools/Software:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Experience with Procore and scheduling tools preferred
Certifications & Specialized Training:
SEL or other manufacturer-specific certifications preferred Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, focus on accuracy, solid communication skills, positive initiative and judgment, the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines and the ability to multitask with tact and consideration.
