Job Description

TITLE:
Construction Manager
REPORTS TO
Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Manager is responsible for providing leadership, management, and oversight of projects on behalf of Hoffmann, Inc. This role oversees the full project cycle from initial engagement through closure, ensuring all requirements are met on time, within scope, and within budget.
FLOW OF COMMUNICATION
Personnel Issues:
Serve as intermediary between Project Superintendent and the Operations Manager.
Material and Design Issues:
Report directly to the Operations Manager.
Daily Jobsite Activities:
Coordinate with the assigned Project Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel to project sites to support Superintendents in ensuring safe and high-quality completion of concrete projects. Promote and enforce safe work practices across all Hoffmann project sites. Manage Superintendents and crew members, approximately 35-40. Coordinate with Operations Manager and Director of Human Resources to assign Superintendents and crews to specific projects. Work with the Operations Manager to schedule jobs, meet deadlines, and develop work sequence steps with Superintendents. Oversee and promote training and development of current field personnel and new hires. Coordinate the shipping and logistics of jump form equipment to each jobsite. Support the Incentive Program during site visits by completing jobsite inspection checklist. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to provide estimates on labor, materials, and construction feasibility. Maintain communication with customer representatives during site visits, when possible. Coordinate assignment of work activities for personnel temporarily assigned to Muscatine.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Strong analytical and organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors. Effective verbal and written communication skills, both internally and with customers. Assertive with a strong sense of urgency to complete daily tasks. Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of the value of collaboration and relationship building. Proven ability to be timely and proactive; not reactive. Demonstrated leadership with a positive, solution-oriented attitude, especially when resolving conflicts or issues. Ability to read complex blueprints and sketches and perform basic layouts. Proficient in Microsoft Windows, scheduling software, and Auto
CAD. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Approximately 20% desk-based work, 30% travel, and 50% outdoor/industrial site work. Frequent exposure to outdoor and industrial environments. Ability to kneel, bend, crawl, and climb to the top of Hoffmann structures as needed. Ability to lift and carry 25-75 pounds of tools and materials. Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required. Ability to drive and fly when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
