Job Description

Position Summary STACK is seeking a Critical Operations Technician (COT) to support our local data center campus. As a vital member of the Critical Operations team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and base building systems. The COT focuses on the flawless execution of programs related to Safety, Team, Availability, Communication, and Knowledge (STACK) . This role is ideal for a naturally curious, driven technical professional who excels in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and is dedicated to preventing unplanned, customer-impacting outages.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Facility Maintenance System Monitoring:
Operate, monitor, maintain, and rapidly respond to abnormal conditions in critical facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, and integrated controls.
Preventative Maintenance:
Work closely with the operations team to execute an aggressive preventative and predictive maintenance schedule.
Issue Resolution:
Identify, document, and track maintenance discrepancies using a CMMS system . Work with site management to resolve issues based on prioritized site needs.
Efficiency Optimization:
Analyze existing operating conditions, track/trend operational characteristics, and implement efficiency improvements to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
Inspections:
Conduct regular facility and security tours, documenting conditions and labeling all equipment per established procedures.
Infrastructure & System Management Mechanical Systems:
Maintain and repair chilled water systems, rooftop HVAC units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, fan wall systems, air-cooled chillers, and central plant operations.
Electrical Systems:
Maintain and repair critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through UPS systems, PDUs, and RPP cabinets. Fire Life Safety (FLS): Monitor wet sprinkler systems, pre-action sprinkler systems, and associated detection devices.
Capacity Upgrades:
Coordinate and oversee power installations and critical infrastructure upgrades.
Safety, Compliance & Administration Safety Culture:
Implement and strictly follow STACK's standardized culture of always working safely.
Technical Writing:
Serve in a technical writing capacity to develop, update, and utilize procedures for preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
Incident Response:
Manage incident escalation, emergency response, and detailed follow-up report writing.
Feedback Loop:
Provide continuous feedback to management regarding the effectiveness of existing operational standards and processes.
Qualifications & ExperienceMust-Have Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a data center or related mission-critical operations environment.
Technical Knowledge:
General understanding of critical data center systems (UPS, Transformers, PDUs, RPPs, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, and Pre-action systems).
Regulatory Compliance:
Strong working knowledge of compliance issues, building codes, and standards including NFPA 70e, NFPA 72, and NFPA 25 .
Software Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, database housing software, and PC-based site monitoring/trending systems.
Screening:
Must be eligible to work in the United States and successfully pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications United States Navy Nuclear Engineering background. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Physical Demands:
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, and use hands to handle or feel equipment.
Lifting:
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds independently.
Sensory:
Ability to see at close range and hear equipment changes or alarms during extended facility tours.
Environment:
Ability to maintain peak performance and clear decision-making in high-stress, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and timelines.

Pay:
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
