Job Description

This position provides leadership and functional supervision over After School Counselors ensuring quality programming while engaging and supporting Beyond The Bell participants and their families. This position reports to the After School Program Supervisor.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. Directs work of After School counselors. Provides guidance, structure and support as needed serving as primary contact for counselors concerning work related issues. May assist with the selection, training, evaluation and discipline of After School staff. Assists with administering behavior and medical protocol as directed. Assists in the direction, supervision, and organization of participants throughout all activities. Oversees the execution of age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities that is progressive and is challenging to each age level. Ensure lesson plans are followed to encourage consistency in program experience for all participants. Communicate with After School Program Supervisor regarding any changes to the daily schedule and keeps After School Counselors, participants and families informed as needed. May assist with scheduling employees and ensure staff is prepared for each work day. Assist with the management of pre/post program site opening and closing. May assist with purchasing necessary materials/equipment for the program. Participates in staff meetings as necessary to ensure effective and timely communication. Counsels After School Counselors on guidelines, policies and procedures. Ensure they are maintaining proper records and program documentation. Conducts audits for completion and substance. Provides families with relevant information regarding their child(s), intended to provide support to families. Responds to complaints and concerns as necessary and ensure proper follow up. Coaches After School Counselors on appropriate group behavior management strategies. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to, report repairs to After School Program Supervisor. Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed and adheres to all departmental and Village safety policies. Advises supervisor of hazards and corrective actions. Other duties as assigned. Related experience in youth programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess or obtain CPR/First Aid certification upon hire.

Work has exposure to environmental conditions including bodily fluids. Work is generally in a noisy setting.
