Steel Superintendent

STEEL SUPERINTENDENT

The Superintendent is the Company's representative assigned the responsibility and authority for daily coordination and direction of the project so that it is safe, within budget, on schedule, to the Company's quality standards, and to the customer's satisfaction. To accomplish this, he/she must conceptualize a plan of how to construct the project that meets the client's goals and must ensure that the daily and weekly activities are consistent with this plan. The Superintendent will assist in developing the temporary bracing and erection plans along with developing lift/pick plans and equipment selection. The Superintendent will work with the Project Manager to ensure plans and equipment are within the project budget. The Superintendent will assist in selecting the erection crews and provide daily support to the crafts and project trade partners. Steel Superintendent is responsible for the daily health and well-being of the project including schedule, cost, safety, quality and customer relationships. They must have a good understanding of steel processes on commercial projects. Must have a good understanding of erection requirements and procedures to be able to direct craftsperson on procedures of material rigging, bracing and general erection of structural and miscellaneous steel.

SUPERINTENDENT DUTIES

5 years of experience erecting commercial structural steel or miscellaneous metals projects. Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills. Effectiveness in planning and controlling work, motivating and developing subordinates, improving work methods and results, encouraging and supporting suggestions for work improvements, etc. Customer/Owner Relations - Participate in the Contractor/Subcontractor meetings. Maintain open and positive communications. Plans for and uses resources efficiently, always looks for ways to reduce costs. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems. Ability to monitor construction schedules and advise on potential setbacks or issues. Communicates expectations and importance of safety. Follows up and ensures safety audits are completed accurately and timely. Identifies critical issues and assists in the development of improvement procedures. Ensuring that all safety processes and procedures are planned for in the estimates and are adhered to by the erection crews. Coordinate Safety inspections with Safety Director. Ability to read Architectural and Structural plans to coordinate shop drawings with in-house engineering department or modeling sub-contractor. Maintain accurate daily reports, production reports and other Company required reports. Ensuring that the project meets established key milestones. Ensuring that the construction work is completed on schedule in conjunction with Field Foreman. Overseeing the delivery of materials, construction tools, and equipment.
