Job Summary
A global life sciences organization is hiring a Construction Manager to oversee field execution of projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating contractors, collaborating with project teams and client stakeholders, and ensuring all construction activities align with design intent and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage contractor safety in compliance with client standards and OSHA regulations; partner with the site Safety Manager when applicable
Coordinate and oversee contractor activities to ensure efficient execution and adherence to project schedules
Direct and manage contractor work to maintain progress and resolve field challenges
Monitor project schedules and assess construction progress, including percent (%) complete
Develop a strong understanding of design intent, process flows, and equipment functions within project scope
Interpret and manage contract requirements, including documentation of communications, change orders, and related records
Lead and facilitate weekly construction progress meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes
Review and respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) in collaboration with the project team
Inspect and verify installed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and technical specifications
Collaborate with project team leads to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions
Identify potential change orders and coordinate with project management and controls teams to ensure timely resolution
Prepare weekly construction reports and other required project documentation
Act as primary liaison between the project team and client site representatives
Coordinate construction activities with ongoing site operations, including permits, work zones, utility outages, tie-ins, logistics, and access routes
Ensure contractors maintain accurate as-built drawings and project documentation
Maintain current project records including drawings, specifications, vendor data, and shop drawings
Oversee receipt, storage, and release of client-provided equipment and materials; verify delivery completeness with the project team
Monitor and control costs, particularly for Time & Materials (T&M) work
Manage and oversee site staff, including field coordinators and support personnel, ensuring alignment on responsibilities, time tracking, and expenses
Support training and onboarding efforts for field team members as required
Qualifications
7+ years of construction management or field execution experience
Strong knowledge of construction practices, safety standards, and OSHA regulations
Proven experience managing contractors and coordinating complex field activities
Experience with project scheduling, cost control, and change order management
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
Experience working in active or operational sites and coordinating construction with ongoing operations
