Friday Position Summary:
Eskola, LLC's Lexington, Kentucky branch is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our growing team as a Commercial Roofing Sheet Metal Superintendent. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sheet metal fabrication and installation operations for commercial roofing projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and company quality standards. The Sheet Metal Superintendent will provide leadership to fabrication shop personnel and field installation crews while coordinating closely with project managers, customers, vendors, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in commercial roofing sheet metal fabrication and installation, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with project oversight and team management responsibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Production Management:
Oversee all fabrication and installation activities for commercial roofing sheet metal projects. Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Coordinate fabrication schedules with project timelines to support field operations. Monitor production output, workforce utilization, and project progress to ensure efficiency and profitability. Work closely with Project Managers to plan manpower, equipment, and material needs.
Sheet Metal Fabrication & Technical Leadership:
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and fabrication details. Oversee the fabrication of custom sheet metal components, including coping caps, edge metal, gutters, downspouts, scuppers, collector boxes, expansion joints, and custom flashings. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and safe use of fabrication equipment including shears, brakes, rollers, welders, and related machinery. Provide technical guidance and support to fabrication personnel and field installation crews. Troubleshoot fabrication and installation challenges and implement effective solutions.
Crew Leadership & Workforce Management:
Lead, supervise, and mentor fabrication shop employees and sheet metal installation crews. Ensure crews have the information, materials, equipment, and resources needed to perform their work successfully. Promote accountability, teamwork, productivity, and professionalism throughout all operations. Assist in employee development through training, coaching, and performance management. Coordinate workforce deployment to ensure the right personnel are assigned to the appropriate tasks.
Safety Management:
Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times. Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and jobsite audits. Ensure employees utilize required PPE and safe work practices. Participate in safety training programs and manufacturer-specific training. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication shop and jobsite environment.
Quality Control:
Establish and maintain the highest standards of workmanship and quality. Inspect fabricated products and completed installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and company standards. Identify and correct quality deficiencies before they impact project schedules or customer satisfaction. Participate in manufacturer inspections and project closeout reviews as required.
Material & Equipment Management:
Manage sheet metal inventory, material usage, and shop supplies. Coordinate material procurement and deliveries with project management and purchasing teams. Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance. Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and equipment.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, manpower reports, and material tracking logs. Report project progress, production metrics, safety observations, and operational concerns to management. Assist with project closeout documentation, warranties, as-built drawings, and inspection reports. Utilize company software and reporting systems for project tracking and communication.
Client & Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as a primary point of contact for sheet metal operations on assigned projects. Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel. Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding production schedules, installation progress, and project challenges. Ensure customer expectations are met through responsive communication and quality workmanship.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Technical training or certification in sheet metal fabrication, welding, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of commercial sheet metal fabrication and installation experience, preferably in a supervisory, forman, or superintendent role. Experience with commercial roofing sheet metal systems and custom fabrication. Strong understanding of roofing details, waterproofing principles, flashing assemblies, and sheet metal integration with commercial roofing systems. Experience managing fabrication shops, field crews, or both. Strong background in OSHA compliance and jobsite safety management. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening as a condition of hire.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and construction specifications. Proficiency operating and overseeing fabrication equipment and processes. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and inspect work for extended periods. Ability to lift and move sheet metal materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to work both indoors in a fabrication shop and outdoors on construction sites. Must be comfortable working at heights and capable of safely using ladders and other elevated access equipment.
Work Environment:
This position primarily involves working on commercial construction sites. Occasional travel may be required to oversee projects at different locations. Must be able to work in varied weather conditions and in a physically demanding environment.
Driving Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.

OSHA 30-Hour Certification Forklift Certification Aerial Lift Certification Welding Certification First Aid / CPR Certification CDL Certification Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred
