Now Hiring:
Site Manager / Commissioning Specialist (Marine HVAC) - Harahan, LA A premier technical services provider in Harahan is seeking a high-accountability Site Manager / Commissioning Specialist to lead the installation, startup, and final testing of specialized marine HVAC systems. This is a critical, hands-on leadership role. You will be the point person responsible for ensuring multi-million-dollar systems are perfectly installed, fully functional, and ready to pass rigorous regulatory inspections before ships head out to sea. Full-time Schedule:
Primarily day shift, but requires flexibility. Work may occur during evenings or off-hours depending on vessel availability and shipyard schedules.
Location:
Based out of Harahan, LA with regular work on active regional job sites and vessel shipyards.
Key Responsibilities Installation Oversight:
Supervise the physical installation and startup of marine HVAC systems, ensuring all equipment meets exact quality standards and specifications.
Electrical & Controls Coordination:
Check wiring, verify connections, and closely coordinate with on-site electricians and engineers.
Hands-on Troubleshooting:
Actively diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on-site (this is an active, tool-using role, not just a desk job).
System Testing & Commissioning:
Coordinate and execute rigorous performance testing on motors, controls, and full system operations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Lead final commissioning walkthroughs and testing alongside third-party inspectors, including the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) , to secure official approvals.
Project Liaison:
Serve as the central communication hub between the shipyard, design engineers, equipment vendors, and the client.
Lifecycle Support:
Handle basic warranty and service support, documenting field issues and communicating feedback back to the engineering team for continuous improvement. Qualifications & Requirements Core Technical Experience (Non-Negotiable): Proven experience in the commissioning and startup of commercial HVAC, complex mechanical, or industrial automation control systems.
Industry Background:
Marine HVAC experience is highly ideal. However, candidates with strong backgrounds in heavy industrial HVAC, complex building automation controls, or industrial plant mechanics are highly encouraged to apply.
Site Coordination:
Demonstrated success coordinating fast-moving work, schedules, and safety protocols on active, high-traffic industrial job sites.
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to confidently direct electricians, collaborate with engineers, and professionally manage client expectations.
Adaptability:
A strong problem-solver who can handle shifting vessel schedules, multiple moving parts, and high-pressure deadlines with a cool head. #2162LA
