Definition:
Working with school personnel and families to develop, manage and coordinate activities surrounding the after school enrichment programs in Northampton Schools.
Supervision:
The Coordinator works under the direction and is supervised by the Program Director and exercises considerable judgment and initiative in establishing own work plan to accomplish short-term and long-term goals. The Coordinator will assist the Director in recruiting and supervising staff and will oversee and supervise the program while in session.
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop programming curricula and schedules
  • Recruit and supervise instructors and staff
  • Work with Business Administrator and Human Resources to coordinate hiring paperwork, Fingerprint Background Check and CORI check
  • Establish an organizational structure for the program
  • Build partnerships with the coordinators of the other elementary after-school enrichment programs in Northampton and the Northampton school district's Business Administrator
  • Work in collaboration with all school stakeholders, including teachers, administrative staff, families and the immediate community to build investment and engagement in the program
  • Monitor and track daily attendance
  • Oversee and supervise the program while in session
  • Coordinate purchasing and payroll related to the program.
  • Annual program review.
  • Maintain staffing ratios for the program and may flex into the role of group leader when needed.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education preferred
  • Experience overseeing/coordinating a similar project
  • Experience developing curriculum
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Grant writing experience
Confidentiality:
  • The employee has access to confidential information on a large scale, across departments, which may include student information, financial information and records
Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, school personnel, parents/caregivers, families, community agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain pertinent and confidential records.
  • Knowledgeable in IEP/504 educational plans, growth/development and the laws pertaining to child abuse reporting and prevention
  • Experience with Google and other applicable computerized software.
Physical, Motor, and Visual Skills:
Physical Skills/Requirements:
Work is split between an office environment and all program spaces. Must be able to access all parts of the building used in a particular program, including the outdoors. May do light physical exercise during a program. The work involves sitting, standing, walking and stooping.
  • Light to moderate physical effort demanded in caring for students/staff.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with students, caregivers and staff.
  • May be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach, crouch, and ambulate around indoor and outdoor spaces, including over uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs with arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes loud, including echoing.
  • High level of concentration ability required, often for multi-hour stretches.
  • A variety of scents will be present in the work environment as it is a public space, including bath products, chlorine, and cleaning products.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
