Job Title:
Superintendent Job Description The Commercial Construction Superintendent leads all on-site activities for commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through final completion. This role directs daily field operations, coordinates subcontractors and suppliers, oversees schedule and quality, and enforces safety standards to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry requirements. The superintendent serves as the primary field leader and point of contact in the field, working closely with internal project teams, inspectors, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities Direct and oversee daily jobsite operations to maintain an organized, efficient, and productive work environment. Coordinate the on-site workforce, including subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff, to ensure tasks are properly sequenced and staffed. Manage equipment logistics, including delivery, placement, and utilization, to support safe and efficient construction activities. Develop, maintain, and adjust short-interval project schedules, aligning field activities with overall project milestones. Identify schedule risks or delays, implement corrective actions, and communicate impacts to the project team as needed. Inspect work regularly for compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and industry standards. Document quality deficiencies, non-conformance issues, and punch list items, and ensure timely resolution and re-inspection. Lead the implementation and enforcement of company and OSHA safety policies and procedures on the jobsite. Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site safety audits to promote a strong safety culture. Complete incident reporting and participate in investigations to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. Lead daily subcontractor coordination meetings to review work plans, clarify expectations, and align activities. Verify subcontractor progress, manpower levels, and resource needs to ensure adequate support for the schedule. Coordinate inspections with authorities, consultants, and other third parties to keep work moving without unnecessary delays. Communicate clearly and professionally with field teams, internal project teams, clients, and other stakeholders regarding project status, issues, and requirements. Maintain an organized jobsite, including material laydown areas, access routes, and housekeeping, to support safety and productivity. Use construction management and project software tools to track progress, document field activities, and support reporting requirements. Essential Skills 5-10+ years of commercial construction experience, including supervisory responsibilities on active job sites. Proven experience managing on-site construction activities for commercial projects from start to finish. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse field teams and subcontractors effectively in a fast-paced environment. Solid understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and coordination for commercial work. Strong commitment to jobsite safety and familiarity with OSHA standards and safe work practices. Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills with field teams, clients, and project stakeholders. Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training preferred. Experience working on commercial construction projects in sensitive or secure environments is beneficial. Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing site conditions, and make sound decisions in the field. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues and implement practical solutions. Organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records related to field activities. Why Work Here?
