Full Job Description Job Summary:
The General Superintendent oversees all aspects of commercial interior construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires comprehensive knowledge and experience with all interior trades, including drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, millwork, doors, frames, hardware, paint, and finishes. The General Superintendent is responsible for coordinating multiple trades, managing schedules, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining safety compliance across all active job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise all interior construction activities across multiple projects Coordinate and schedule interior trades including drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, millwork, doors/frames/hardware, and finish work Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards and adherence to project specifications Ability to manage manpower on all jobsites Manage project schedules, identify critical path items, and implement corrective actions to meet deadlines Lead weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors, trade partners, and project stakeholders Review submittals, shop drawings, and material selections for interior systems Enforce all safety protocols and maintain OSHA and EM385 compliance across all job sites Mentor and develop foremen and field staff to build a high-performing team Collaborate with project managers on budget tracking, change orders, and cost control measures Ensure proper closeout procedures including punch lists, warranties, and owner training
Qualifications:
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in commercial construction with focus on interior buildouts Must be available for limited regional overnight travel to multiple jobsites Extensive hands-on knowledge of all interior trades and construction methods Proven track record of successfully managing multiple concurrent projects Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and building codes Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills OSHA 30 certification required; additional certifications preferred Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Work Environment:
This position requires daily presence on active construction sites with exposure to noise, dust, and varying conditions. It involves frequent walking, climbing, and physical inspection of work areas, and requires flexibility to work extended hours as project demands require.
