Job Title:
Superintendent Job Description This role oversees commercial construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will lead field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and serve as a key liaison between the project team and clients. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with ownership in a tight-knit environment with significant room for growth. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to plan. Manage and coordinate subcontractors on site, ensuring quality workmanship, productivity, and adherence to project requirements. Review, read, and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to guide field activities and resolve issues. Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, including creating and updating two-week look-ahead schedules. Monitor project budgets in the field, track production, and support cost control efforts to keep projects within financial targets. Ensure site safety by implementing and enforcing OSHA and company safety standards and addressing safety concerns promptly. Prepare and complete daily reports documenting job progress, manpower, inspections, and any issues or delays. Manage change orders in coordination with the project team, including identifying scope changes, documenting impacts, and supporting pricing and approvals. Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, providing updates on progress, addressing concerns, and supporting strong client relationships. Collaborate with office and field teams to resolve construction challenges, coordinate deliveries, and maintain project momentum. Support quality control efforts by inspecting work, verifying compliance with plans and specifications, and addressing deficiencies. Maintain organized jobsite documentation and records within jobsite trailers and office systems. Essential Skills Minimum 5+ years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction. Proven ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications. Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating subcontractors on active jobsites. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and site safety practices. Experience with project scheduling, including developing and maintaining two-week look-ahead schedules. Experience with schedule and budget management on construction projects. Proficiency in daily reporting and documentation of jobsite activities. Experience managing change orders in a construction environment. Strong client communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates and address issues professionally. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with field and office teams. Solid organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks and priorities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a site superintendent on commercial projects. History in site safety leadership and enforcement of safety policies. Familiarity with creating and maintaining detailed project documentation and reports. Ability to build strong working relationships with owners, project teams, and subcontractors. Interest in growing with a smaller organization and contributing to long-term team development. Comfort working in both field and office settings, including jobsite trailers. Work Environment This role splits time between the office and active construction sites, including working in jobsite trailers. You will work closely with ownership and a small, tight-knit team that values direct communication and collaboration. Field work will involve active construction conditions, coordination with multiple trades, and consistent focus on safety and productivity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glen Burnie, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
