Director of Construction We are currently seeking a full-time Director of Construction to join our team in Grand Rapids. This role is responsible for overseeing the construction and rehabilitation of assigned properties from start to finish. The Director of Construction will work with third-party builders in a collaborative partnership and be the affiliate's point of contact in those builds. The director will work with members of every Habitat department to ensure a seamless transition to homeownership. They will build and maintain professional relationships with trade contractors and material suppliers, and support project managers with efficient scheduling and site operations throughout the build.

Accountable for the integration of construction and warehousing operations and efficiencies, structures, processes, and policies. Provides leadership and accountability for the goals of the construction team. Strengthens existing relationships with community partners, trade contractors, educational partners, and community developers and builders. Engages with third-party builders as the owner's rep for the affiliate, ensuring quality, efficient, and cost-effective projects are developed. Coordinates development of project schedules & ensures all projects are on schedule within budget and completed within our overall plan, maximizing all volunteer resources, gift-in-kind, and family support requests for Habitat builds. Oversees development of all project specifications, plans, and schedules within all Habitat guidelines and grant guidelines pertaining to all funding requirements. Manages all third-party inspections as necessary to ensure code compliance and quality of work throughout all stages in the build process. Obtains Use and Occupancy permits in a timely manner. Approves all invoices for sites weekly and tracks project budget requirements. Reviews and updates budgets on a monthly basis for all projects. Coordinates scheduling of volunteers with the Volunteer Services department to ensure a cost-effective use of resources. Responsible for the management of department systems and software, including Procore and Blueprint, to provide accurate and timely reporting of department progress to the organization.
Partners with the following:
Habitat in-kind contribution team in search of materials and services; all educational institutions promoting construction and trades relevant to green and sustainable building, including demolition. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Habitat for Humanity of Kent and Northern Muskegon Counties. Receives and maintains professional development training necessary to fulfill the minimum standards of the essential responsibilities, including annual training dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture, enhancing intercultural competencies, and promoting fairness and belonging for all individuals. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Active Builders License from the State of Michigan. Minimum 8-10 years of construction project management experience; commercial construction experience preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong understanding of Universal Design, Green Building, and other certifications preferred. Ability to exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented. Ability to utilize construction management software products. Must be able to perform with minimal supervision. Previous experience in training others in construction. Regular attendance is required.

Pay Range and Benefits:
