Site Superintendent - General Contracting RW Mercer - 3.7 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details 10 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Site Superintendent R.W. Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations - six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance. A General Construction Superintendent at R.W. Mercer is responsible for the execution of all aspects of installation and construction on-site. Construction of infrastructure requires constant supervision to ensure that the construction is happening as per plan. In addition, there is a need for keeping watch on the construction material on site and further requirements. They are a site superintendent who coordinates and manages all the activities on a construction site.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Safety and Quality Site Supervisor and quality control of RWM and Subcontractor Crews. Responsible for all aspects of site safety, including conducting safety meetings. Work with PM and Field Operations Manager to ensure safety by subcontractor crews. Collaborates Review job schedule and cost breakdown with Salesman, Project Manager and Field Operations Manager prior to job start. Work together with Project Manager and Field Operations Manager to communicate scheduling needs: laborers, carpenters, technicians, materials, equipment, and subcontractors as required. Subcontractor management - ensure their work is being performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and purchase orders. Work with Project Manager to ensure subcontractor accountability Leadership and Communication Manages all on-site construction activities. Including Subcontractor Management, workload completion and communication with Project Manager on any issues or concerns. Plan reading and executing to ensure the project is complete per manufacturer and engineering specifications. Schedule all inspections throughout the project to maintain regulatory compliance. Additional duties as assigned and needed by management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years old or older and possess High School Diploma, GED, or equivalency. Must have 5 years of construction or restoration experience. Clean driving record and eligible to operate a motor vehicle (CDL license, if possible, by not required)

Environment Working is performed primarily outside with some travel; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to possible hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery and uneven surfaces and rough terrain; may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. Physical Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a construction environment; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Digging and working in trenches. Working in confined spaces, from heights, and hot/cold weather conditions.
