Chief Operations Officer About Amani Amani Construction & Development, a locally owned residential developer and builder, seeks a dynamic individual to join our passionate team dedicated to providing affordable new construction housing throughout MN. As a developer and General Contractor Amani partners with municipalities to build affordable energy efficient homes. Our goal is to enable people to build wealththrough homeownership. Position Overview This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This person is responsible for overseeing Amani's construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This individual will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires a self-starter with strong construction knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in both field and office settings. This individual will represent Amani in meetings with vendors, subcontractors, and external partners. Responsibilities Project Planning & Preconstruction Review plans and specifications to ensure constructability and alignment with development goals. Participate in early-stage site evaluations and readiness assessments. Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams. Prepare and coordinate bid packages, budgets, and project schedules. Construction Management Oversee day-to-day construction operations across all active projects. Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to clarify scopes, timelines, and expectations. Negotiate change orders and resolve scope discrepancies. Review and manage subcontractor and supplier bids and estimates. Monitor construction progress through regular site visits and meetings. Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials. Project Administration & Financial Management Maintain accurate records, including work orders, schedules, permits, and compliance documentation.
Oversee financial aspects of projects:
estimating, bidding, budgeting, invoicing, cost tracking, change orders, draws, and closeouts. Required Skills & Experience 5 years of construction experience. Ability to read construction drawings and understand building materials and methods. Proficiency in project management software/systems and Microsoft Office 365. Effective communication skills with subcontractors, vendors, and government partners. Proficiency in preparing and tracking project timelines and budgets. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities. Flexibility to adapt in a dynamic business environment. Team player willing to work in a fast-paced environment in a growing small business. Must be based in the Twin Cities and able to travel to job sites. Preferred Skills & Experience Proficient in Spanish. Demonstrated leadership skills and interest in business development to support the company's expansion and growth. Passionate about affordable housing initiatives.

$80,000 - $100,000 per year depending on experience with bonus option
